CLINICAL STUDIES SUPPORT FELIWAY
Feliway proved highly effective at decreasing vertical marking by cats observed in the U.S. and France.

U.S. Evaluation

Demographics:

• 81 final questionnaires returned
• Duration of marking ranged from four days to 10 years with an average of two years

Design:

• Study participants were surveyed for baseline data one week prior to use, and then for four consecutive weeks during Feliway application

Results:

• 60 cases were vertical marking without defecation
• Of these 60 cases, Feliway reduced or eliminated urine marking in 95% of cats vertically marking

French Evaluation

Demographics:

• 61 cats were evaluated
• Duration of marking ranged from six weeks to three months

Design:

• Study participants treated their household for 28 days and monitored the number of urine marks
  for up to 49 days

Results:

• On Day 0, the average score was 14.8 marks per cat
• From Day 14 onward, there was marked decrease in the number of urine marks to less than one mark per day

CREATING A CALMING EFFECT ON CATS
In new and stressful environments, or when traveling, Feliway demonstrates a calming effect on cats. The presence of Feliway prompts rapid onset of exploratory and feeding behavior in hospitalized cats. Fifty-six hospitalized cats were assigned to one of three groups.

• Feliway treated cages
• Natural feline facial pheromone treated cages
• Untreated cages

Cats in all cages were observed to determine the time interval between entrance to the cages and the initiation of exploratory behavior and feeding behavior.
