Senior at Seven |

Fact: Over twenty percent of all dogs and cats over seven years of age have subclinical disease. Fact: The benefit of early detection of disease is more successful, less traumatic, and less costly treatment. If you can answer yes to any of the following questions then you should consider a “Senior at Seven” work up: 1) Do you see an increase or decrease in thirst or urination? - possible kidney disease, urinary tract infection, adrenal gland dysfunction, diabetes 2) Do you see an increase or decrease in appetite or body weight? - possible liver or kidney disease, thyroid dysfunction, cancer 3) Is your pet’s skin oily, dry, crusty, flaky, or show patterns of hair loss? - possible thyroid or adrenal dysfunction, primary skin disease, secondary infection 4) Do you see abnormal volumes or consistency of bowel movements? - possible gastrointestinal, kidney, liver or thyroid disease 5) Do you question your pet’s vision or hearing? - possible cataracts, diabetes, nervous system disease, infection 6) Have you noticed a decrease in your pets tolerance to exercise? - possible cardiovascular or muscle, bone or joint disease; thyroid/adrenal dysfunction; anemia 7) Does your pet have shortness of breath, frequent panting, or coughing? - possible cardiovascular or respiratory disease, thyroid or adrenal dysfunction; anemia

changes? - possible cognitive dysfunction, central nervous system disease 9) Does your pet have bad breath or bad teeth? - possible dental disease, kidney disease, diabetes 10) Does your pet have trouble standing, walking, running, jumping, climbing, or lying down? - possible musculoskeletal/joint disease, cardiovascular disease 11) Does your pet have any of the following symptoms: pain, limping, vomiting, skin growths, urinary or fecal incontinence, ear/mouth/skin/unidentified odor, or abdominal enlargement?
